Aluminium Secondary Windows

Secondary Aluminium Windows For a Warmer, Quieter Life

Our secondary aluminium windows are the perfect solution for home owners who are looking for additional glazing for their existing windows. Secondary glazing is designed to sit alongside your existing window to help reduce noise and retain heat to the property. Ideally suited for properties where replacing the prime windows is not possible or cost effective. You could save up to 10% off your energy bills by installing secondary glazing.

Our aluminium secondary glazing is manufactured to the highest standard, it is light weight, highly effective with a range of specialist glass options for maximum thermal performance and noise reduction. It is virtually maintenance free and you retain the exterior character of your existing windows

This product is very cost effective with astounding simplicity and is an ideal solution for those listed properties, period properties and houses in conservation areas where window replacement is either impractical or not allowed due to planning constraints.

Locations such as concert halls, control rooms, hotel bedrooms, homes, offices, sound studios, music rooms and museums are ideally suited to the installation of secondary windows.

Vertical Sliding Secondary Glazing

This system is ideal for providing thermal insulation and sound proofing for traditional wooden box sash windows, or any other windows that have horizontal bars. Panels slide up and down in the same way as vertical sliding sash windows and provide easy access to the existing window. When open they provide ventilation without interfering with curtains or blinds.

These Vertical Sliders are extremely versatile, slide smoothly and are available with spring balances or spring catches to hold the sliding sashes in an open position. We can also provide vertical sliders with our unique tilt back facility.

Horizontal Sliding Secondary Glazing

This system is extremely versatile, slides smoothly and is available with two to five panels. Horizontal sliders are perfect for sound and thermal insulation for casement windows, hinged windows, or any window that has vertical bars. Panels slide within the frame allowing easy access to the existing outer windows & provide ventilation without interfering with curtains or blinds.

Horizontal Sliders are available in our Economy Odd Leg, Slim-line Equal Leg, Luxury Sub-frame and Heavy Duty systems. Units can be joined with coupling sections allowing both large and ribbon windows to be successfully treated.

Hinged Secondary Glazing

This system can either be butt hinged, friction hinged or parallel friction hinged, each has it’s own advantages and disadvantages. Generally hinged secondary glazing lends itself to use in hard to treat areas such as bay windows and other specialist applications. It is ideal for large glass areas where quick and easy regular access is required. i.e. for maintenance, ventilation or cleaning.

Butt hinged units open to around 150° giving a large clear opening for full access to the existing windows. Friction hinged units open to around 65° providing a large opening. The friction hinges allow the panel to be held in any given position, regulating ventilation. Parallel hinged or PIP™ secondary provides a restricted opening for controlled, secure ventilation. Hinged units can also be combined with Lift Out units, making them perfect for specialist applications.

Lift Out Secondary Glazing

This system offers an alternative to horizontal and vertical sliders, and are able to treat large areas of clear glass while avoiding being visible from outside. The large panels can be lifted out of the frame for cleaning or to provide ventilation. However it is not an ideal system, for where regular access is required.

Lift Out Units are available in our Economy Odd Leg andLuxury Subframe systems. Units can be coupled together where required and combination units can be created to include hinged and lift out panels. These features allow complicated window styles, such as a top lite over a fixed, or hard to treat areas in tight spaces, such as bay windows or large fixed windows to be effectively treated.

Fixed Secondary Glazing

This system is the most inexpensive and easy to fit style of secondary glazing we offer. An effective method of reducing noise and heat loss, and considered to be the most easily reversible change. It has pre-drilled countersunk holes and is very popular in conservation areas, especially in leasehold properties where changing the existing windows maybe uneconomical or an impossibility.

Fixed secondary glazing is part of our economy system and is the slimmest style of secondary glazing we offer, at just 20mm wide. The wool pile on the back of the frame helps create a good seal between the existing window, preventing draughts and blocking out sound.

They have no opening mechanism, no subframe and is simply face fixed directly onto the existing windows. This style of secondary glazing will provide no access to the prime window.
