The Many Benefits of Conservatory Blinds

Posted: Friday, 19 August 2016 @ 12:51

Conservatory blinds have so many advantages, from being a practical asset to having decorative purposes too. There are tonnes of design choices when it comes to blinds, and of course the style you choose will depend on the type of conservatory you have, and whether you require blinds across the entire room or just on the roof or windows. Read on to find out why blinds are a must-have for a conservatory, and why you should never consider building an orangery without them!

Regulate the temperature

It is difficult to create a conservatory which is useable all year round – but specialist blinds really help. In the winter, stop draughts and chills by having purpose-designed conservatory blinds, which will also stop heat escaping through the glass. However they are also useful in summer, as blinds can stop some of the sun’s rays entering the conservatory and making it too warm. Having blinds fitted can save on your energy bills by helping to regulate the temperature for all seasons.

Protect the furniture

As conservatories are built primarily with glass, the furniture is exposed to more sunlight than if it was placed in any other room of the house. Over time, the UV rays can cause furnishings and furniture to fade, leaving it looking tired and old. Conservatory blinds can slow down this process or prevent it altogether, by blocking the sun’s rays from coming through the glass and altering the colour and condition of the furniture.

Enjoy activities

The glare of the sun can be uncomfortable in any room, but especially in the conservatory or orangery. If you want to watch TV or have turned the conservatory into a cinema room, sunlight can really ruin the experience. Use the blinds to weaken the sunrays and filter the light entering the room. It’s not just watching TV which the sunlight can disturb – reading, knitting, working on a laptop or doing anything else can be difficult in bright sunlight.

Add depth and character

Dressing your windows instantly makes a room feel more warm and welcoming, whether it’s with blinds, drapes or both. Conservatory blinds add depth to the room, and you can choose a style which complements the interior décor. Blinds are also good if you like to entertain in the conservatory in the evening, as large, bare windows are not appealing when it’s dark outside.
