Posted: Friday, 19 August 2016 @ 12:51

A garage conversion is a great way to add space in your home, without having to build. Garages can be so versatile, so the options really are endless if you’re thinking about a conversion – it’s time to get creative! Think about your hobbies and what you could do with the shape of the room. From a workshop to a man cave, you can achieve anything! Take a look at these examples of real garage conversions for some renovation inspiration…

Open Plan Kitchen Diner

Do you like entertaining? Then why not transform your garage into a five star entertainment space, complete with a kitchen, bar, sound system with surround sound…the list goes on! This would work really well if the garage is adjoined to the house, as you could knock through the wall and the garage would be a part of the house. Even if it doesn’t, the extra party room would be a great addition to your home.

Library

Struggling to find space to house all your books? Maybe you’re a rare book collector and you need a dedicated space to store your collection of volumes. Why not convert a disused space into a cosy library and reading room? It’s sure to impress all your guests and give you a hideaway for some peace and quiet.

Home Office

With more and more people working from home part time and setting up businesses, many houses are adapting. Spare rooms are being converted into home offices, but if you don’t have an empty room or would prefer a large space, the garage is the perfect solution. It’s also great for home workers, as a detached room can help separate work from family life. This is a great example:

Gym or Yoga Studio

If you’re a fitness buff and would like to work out in the comfort of your own home, the garage is the perfect place. You don’t need to fill it with fancy equipment – it can just be a large open space with mats, weights and exercise balls, just be sure to make it feel motivating. If you’re more into yoga than weights, then take greater care with the interior design to make sure you can tap into your zen zone, and your garage will become the best place for practicing yoga and meditation.
