Front Doors – the Best of Both Worlds

Posted: Friday, 19 August 2016 @ 12:51

The front door of your home is so much more than a door; it connects two different worlds. It offers security and comfort when you want to escape from the busy outside world, and also welcomes friends and family members into your private space. On top of this, your entrance door helps others to make an impression of your house and the people that live in it.

If you don’t think your front door truly reflects your family or your home, then maybe it’s time for a revamp. Simply installing a new door can completely transform the front of your house. But as well as looking attractive, it has another important job to do – keep your property secure.

There are many different types of front doors, with a range of advantages and disadvantages. Most homes have either a timber door or a PVCu door, and each have a long lasting appeal. Timber doors are often found in period properties, or rural cottages, while PVCu front doors are a little more modern and used in new builds.

Both materials are great choices, and offer premium security with multiple locking systems. However wooden doors aren’t as weather resistant and need a little more maintenance. PVCu doors are also better at keeping out noise and are more energy efficient.

Introducing the Composite Door

Most homeowners agree that a timber door is the look they prefer, but the PVCu door is more practical. Well now, there is no need to have to choose between them, because the composite door offers the best of both worlds. It has all the benefits of a PVCu door with the look of a classic timber door, in any colour you like.

The composite door is actually made of GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic). It has a grainy look and feel, but offers much more longevity than wood. It won’t warp or twist when the weather changes, and you’ll never have to worry about repainting it. Additionally, the door also offers the best thermal and noise insulation on the market.

Stylish and functional, a composite door combines all the desirable elements from a range of doors and brings them together in a beautiful way. There are so many designs and styles to choose from, so you can select the perfect front door for your home.
