Since we manufacture top quality windows which have been tested and approved for energy rating, it is important that the hardware we use is the best. There is no point making such a good window only to have it fall apart in six months! All of our hinges are of top quality stainless steel and have been chosen for their reputation and durability. It does not matter whether these are standard hinges, fire escapes or easy cleans, the same rule applies. Similarly we have chosen our new range of loc....

Our window hinges fall into three categories, depending on where in the house the window is situated. A standard hinge is just that - a cantilever hinge in stainless steel. For bedrooms there are two options - fire escape and easyclean. The standard fire escape allows the opener to swing round to 90 degrees, allowing easy access for escape. The easyclean hinge also does this, but has the added advantage of being able to move the entire sash into the open position by pressinf two buttons. When t....

On warm nights such as we are now having, ventilation is essential. If your windows have trickle vents, these should always be left open. If you want more airflow, but are worried about leaving your windows open, an ideal solution is to lock them into the night vent position. This is the second position that your windows will open to and can be securely locked in this part open position without any danger from intruders. In windows which have no trickle vents at all, it is ideal for general ven....

There are two main types of condensation that occur on double glazed windows. Inside, on standard double glazed windows is down to two factors. Lack of continuous ventilation, eg trickle vents closed, night vent positions not use, or an existing damp problem in the house. On energy rated windows such as the top specification 'A' rated window, condensation can for on the outside of the window during certain conditions. This is because virtually all the heat stays in your house and not enough esc....

As a leading manufacturer of BFRC enegy rated windows you can be sure that our windows are what we say they are. With our standard window rated as a 'C' by the BFRC, these are high efficiency windows with all of the heat saving benifits that you would expect. In order to get the reating, we use 28mm argon filled glass units with Planitherm total glass. For our superb 'A' rated windows, we use the same tested Rehau S706 uPVC frame, but with Planitherm total and Diamonte glass with argon and the ....

We get a number of calls each week at this time of year regarding condensation on the outside panes of glass on our 'A' rated windows. This is not a fault with the window - quite the reverse! Because these windows transmit barely any heat from the inside of your house to the outside, the outer pane mists up when weather conditions are right. This will quickly clear as the day warms up. A normal double glazed window looses a proportion of the house internal heat through the inner pane and airgap....

Many thanks for the comments relating to companies offering energy rated windows. It is precisely the fact that some companies offer a sub standard window that the blog post was created, along with the link to the BFRC website. By viewing this site, our customers can see that what they are getting is the real article. The windows have been tested in accordance with the BFRC regulations and have passed. The other point that these windows are a long term investment is true, and they will over the....

It might sound a bit daft, but if you are buying energy rated windows from a manufacturer such as ourselves, how do you know that the product that you purchase is what you are told it is? We manufacture energy rated 'A' and 'C' rated windows. Each of our windows have 2 labels on it, either silver or gold. On that label is the name of the manufacturer, ( us ), the rating of the window and the license number. Another way of being certain that all is well with your rated window is to go onto the....

If you woke up this morning to find your car frozen to the drive, your poor fishpond like an ice rink, and the general temperature in your house below 60 degrees, read on! Evidently, your house is loosing loads of heat. This could be from the loft, so loft insulation would take away this problem. You may not have cavity wall insulation. Fix this and you will notice an improvement. Best of all, though, change your windows and doors! At Prior Products, we now manufacture and install proper e....
