We have Stuart and Adam very busy this week starting with a conservatory being installed in Stratford upon Avon. They also have scheduled glass units to be replaced in Radway and Bidford upon Avon and a patio door and window installation in Cheltenham. If you have struggled for years with wooden windows, you will be aware of the upkeep each year or so. Stipping the paint off, filling the rotten bits and repainting all over again. Mike B one of our fitters is having a busy week with a large installation of double glazing in Bidford, Warwickshire but has started the week with a strange request. This is definately the time of year for us receiving many telephone calls regarding broken glass units in conservatories, French doors and patio doors. If you have a rotary lawn mower, there are several things that you can do to prevent this rather costly occurrance.
Bear in mind how fast a stone is flung after contact with a mower blade and even though all of these large glass units are toughened, the stone will still shatter the outer pane of glass. It is very rare for one to go through both.....

With Cheltenham being the place for conservatories at the moment i thought i would mention another fantastic installation by Prior Products happening in Cheltenham this week.

A property in Cheltenham Gloucestershire GL54 is having a complete renovation of a conservatory begining today.

Wherever possible we like to recommend that our customers have French doors in their conservatories. These have great strength and are designed with the conservatory in mind.
We try not to fit patio doors to any conservatory front and like to limit the width to about 18oomm. The sliding door is designed to be used in conjunction with a lintel which are not present in conservatories.....

If you have self cleaning activ glass on your conservatory roof, don't touch it! The special coating on this glass allows the rain to do the job for you. Never try and remove marks with any kind of solvent as you will destroy the self cleaning coating.....

At this time of year with the winter fast approaching, now would be a good time to run some simple checks on your conservatory. If you are able enough, clean out any debris in the guttering and whilst you are up there, just give the lead flashing a glance at.

Something that you need to think about when ordering a conservatory is in which direction it will face. If south facing, consideration should be taken about how to keep it cool in the summer months. Extra opening windows are one possibility, as are the addition of roof vents to let the heat out through the roof.
